This is a dramatic piece inspired by the beautiful and gentle, yet mysterious moonlight. Originally composed for viola and piano, it has been adapted for a string quartet, a family of instruments, to enhance the resonance and harmony. Starting quietly with a three-note motif of G-D-C, the piece unfolds with a theme that features its inversion at the forefront, and these two melodies weave towards a climax. In the end, it gently closes, as if in prayer, within the quiet moonlight.
