This is a dramatic piece inspired by the beautiful, gentle, and mysterious moonlight. Originally composed for viola and piano, the composition has been adapted for a string quartet, a group of kindred instruments, to enhance its resonance and harmony. Starting quietly with a three-note motif of G-D-C, the piece begins to unfold with a theme that features its inversion at the forefront, and these two melodies weave towards a climax. In the end, the composition gently closes, as if in prayer, within the quiet moonlight.
